The 8th China Food Safety Annual Conference was held in the People’s Great Hall in Beijing on November 20-21, 2010. The conference was jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture, General Administration of Customs, State Administration for Industry and Commerce, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, State Food and Drug Administration and Beijing Food Safety Administration; supported by National Development and Reform Commission and National Food Industry Association; undertaken by China Food Quality Press; collaborated by National Hi-tech Food Industrialization Committee and China Council for the Promotion of Nationalities Trade. Zhou Tienong, vice-chairman of NPC Standing Committee, and Bai Lichen, vice chairman of CPPCC, opened the ceremony together; Gu Xiulian, vice-chairman of 10th NPC Standing Committee delivered important directives. Liu Peizhi, deputy director of Food Safety Commission of the State Council, Niu Dun, vice minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Wang Dongfeng, deputy director of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, Pu Changcheng, deputy director of General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, Bian Zhenjia, deputy director of State Food and Drug Administration, and Gou Zhongwen, vice mayor of Beijing delivered speeches concerning important work including food safety “from farm to table”, establishment of food safety mechanism, development of new food safety situation, and so on. Over 500 people from relevant ministries and commissions of the State Council, supporting organizations of the conference, relevant food associations, well-known domestic and overseas food enterprises, research institutions and media attended the opening ceremony of the conference. The annual conference this year was themed “guarantee food safety, construct harmonious society”, with an unprecedented level and scale. It was rated as a “food safety brand occasion”.

At the conference, VV Food & Beverage Co., Ltd. won five honors and became the enterprise with most awards. All the achievements are affirmation and appreciation of VV’s contribution and great efforts in food safety.
At the conference Forum, Yang Qidian, Chairman of VV Food & Beverage Co., Ltd. was invited to give a speech titled “Food safety responsibility is as large as the heavens”. He shared with attendants VV’s experience and understanding in food safety management, and expounded VV’s food safety policy: VV regards food safety as the core of its “responsibility” culture. Food safety is a top priority in production. VV strictly abides by the Food Safety Law in practice, holds the pass in each section from raw materials, techniques and finish examination. VV performs raw materials control and production control from the beginning, and supervise each section and each detail in production. A complete management system has been established to control quality from raw milk transportation to sterilization, canning, finish products storage, etc. VV can ensure that no unqualified product goes out of the plant, so as to guarantee safety and healthiness of VV products, and rest consumers’ heart. VV’s strict control of food safety and idea of creating healthy life were congruously agreed and highly appraised by the attending leaders and professionals of the profession.
At the conference, Chairman Yang Qidian also consulted the attending leaders and professionals of the profession on the establishment of a forceful China’s food safety association during the 12the Five-Year Plan, so as to form a “national food safety protective network” integrating early warning, monitoring, quick reaction to market situation” as one, shape a linkage reaction mechanism, guarantee food safety sustainably and effectively, build up a food safety system “from farm to table”.
